My go to is the burrito especial. It is amazing!

My wife and I dined here for lunch today. The food was very good. I had the Verde chicken enchiladas and a single shredded beef taco. Taco shell was an authentic crispy shell. Not the Ortega out of a box. The prices though are ridiculous. I know it's AK but come on. $16 for two enchiladas? $5.25 for a taco? Come on. I can get halibut for $20 here. The food is great but prices are steep for that type of food.

Straightforward good meals. Pleasant atmosphere and friendly service.

As a Southern California native, I know Mexican food, and this place has very flavorful and authentic food. I had the Enchilada trio and it was great. The red sauce is flavorful and spicy! Definitely homemade and not the junk from the can.

This is their idea of a half order of nachos. The chips are rubber and there's not even a handful of chips under the cheese, very very disappointed!

Below average at best. The tacos were way to greasy and the meat was something out of a crock pot. I have tried this place twice now and unfortunately I will not be going back. The service was good and the location was fun but the food really isin't good.

Food was pretty good but they only have a "limited" liquor license. Beer and wine only which means NO MARGARITAS! I was hopeful when I saw they offered sangria but when I asked about it I was told they were out. I found this odd since we were there for early lunch.

Chips and salsa were excellent. Had the Colorado Burrito and it was AMAZING!

I loved the flavors of the food here. They did not have a lot of options for traveling vegans, but enough to be worth the time to eat here. The food was delicious and the service was excellent.

Decent Mexican food but a bit pricey.

Finally a place in the north land that rivals our favorite Mexican Restaurant in Texas. I would highly recommend this place as a fix for TexMex.

Good food and our server Jake was so friendly and funny (and that voice- swoon). Some places aren’t real thrilled about tourists from cruise ships tromping around their town, but this restaurant had a wonderful everyone is welcome vibe. Only bummer was it seemed a bit expensive.

Was weary from touring the town, and they greeted me warmly, making me feel welcome and at home!

It was okay. Not bad for mexican food in Juneau Alaska.Good chips. Try the house made vinaigrette, delicious. Overall, the flavors are toned down for a general American palette. I ordered the carne asada plate. Steak was smaller than expected; three medallions, probably 4 oz. in total.

We like to get the nachos and share it. There's already more than enough for two people

Best Mexican food in Alaska and most probably north of Mexico!!! The last time I ate here was in 2006 and now in 2019 the food tastes the same :AWESOME!! Excellent service by staff! A happy place. And not expensive. I highly recommend this restaurant if you are ever in Juneau, Alaska. The last place you'd expect great Mexican food!

Faaaaaaabulous Mexican cooking! Great tamales and all that goes with them.

My wife and I eat there a few days ago which we frequent often. The food was great as usual. However, during the winter months its cold in there most likely due to the fact that the buildings in the area are from the early 1900's. My wife always gets the super burrito & myself the Mexican style steak. The secret sauce sure makes this dish a delight to enjoy, all these years.

This is a great, quaint little Mexican restaurant I go to every time I go to Juneau. It's easy to walk to, has great service, and delicious food! I just wish their salsa was spicier.

Popular place, busy at times, good MEX food.

The Chips and Salsa which were once a nice treat before a fantastic meal have become the highlight of the dining experience at El Sombrero. The flavor of the food has suffered and it seems like a lower quality product and not so much poor seasoning. Actually the French Fries were very good! Out waitress was only OK. Clearly no real interest in the Service Industry but did manage to handle herself in a 3 star manner to match the food. ....and the Strawberry Margherita that used to be so yummy is gone, replaced with a version that doesn't come close to what we were all used to. It was average at best.

I'm a passable cook myself and their verde is solid. Did not expect to find such good mexi-food in Alaska. No hard liquor though.

The food was delicious. I had the taco salad with a garnish of pickled asparagus. I would order it again. Chips and salsa we're great, too.

Very fast and courteous service. Warm and clean, the food is excellent. Get the #11 layered cheese enchiladas with eggs on top.

The atmosphere felt great but service was painfully slow. Took me 10 minutes just to get my drink. Then to top it off my food was a bit on the salty side.

Without a doubt the best Mexican food north of the border (the Mexican border not the Canadian border...) Service is great. Staff is friendly. Environment is positive as always.

Great food and great service. Price is very fair considering the amount of food you get. Had the breakfast burrito and the Chilaquiles. Highly recommend these items or anything with the chilacate sauce.

Excellent Mexican restaurant in Downtown Juneau.

Service was good. Very friendly and polite. The restaurant is clean. I ordered the beef chimichanga. The beef was a grayish color and was inedible. It was quite possibly the worst thing I have ever eaten...and I was in the Marine Corps for eight years so that’s saying something.

Service was super slow, and food was not as good as I hoped.

Delicious! Small place and a bit cramped but the food is worth it! I recommend the Colorado Super Burrito!

Excellent local Mexican joint. You don't go for the ambiance... You go for the huge servings and excellent food. Food is made to order fresh, customizable and amazing. Staff is friendly and fun. Price is good given the sizes. Salsa is some of the best we've had. Highly recommend.

The quintessential juneau Mexican restaurant. The food has been consistently excellent for years and years. The service is good. It's not huge but there is upstairs too
